Access to C-glycosides by metal-catalyzed C-H functionalization of the anomeric position oriented by a directing group

Thesis carried out under the supervision of Jacques Uziel and Angélique Ferry
The importance of sugars in biology leads to the development of new ways of accessing these compounds and in particular C-glycosides. However, their current syntheses involve many steps. Recently, access to complex molecules via C-H functionalization reactions has become attractive because it avoids going through prefunctionalized intermediates. To circumvent the problems of regioselectivity, the use of directing groups (GD) is commonly chosen in metal-catalyzed C-H functionalization reactions (FCM). However, examples of FCM on sugars are very limited. In this project, we aim to develop new general and efficient FCM methods to access C-aryl glycosides of interest. The first part is dedicated to the synthesis of N-acetylated glycoside mimics via FCMs on glycals with a C2 amide. The second part concerns the FCM of Csp3-H oriented by a GD in an anomeric position.
